Kams has been my favorite boba spot since 2016. After traveling to Taiwan, HK, Korea, and Japan Kam's is still my favorite boba shop. The fruit is fresh and the milk tea isn't overly sweet. Highly recommend to stop by if you want boba, a smoothie, sushi or a small bit to eat .
Overview
Walking into Kam's Bubble Tea & Sushi feels like stumbling on a local secret that regulars quietly protect. I first stopped by after a long afternoon downtown, and within minutes it was clear why this spot at 1813 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34236, United States keeps popping up in conversations and reviews. The place balances casual diner vibes with thoughtful food prep, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.
The menu is where things start to shine. Youβll see a mix of classic sushi rolls, creative fusion options, and a full bubble tea lineup that rivals specialty tea shops. I watched the staff prepare a rainbow roll using fish that looked genuinely fresh, sliced cleanly and handled with care. That attention matters. According to the FDAβs seafood handling guidelines, temperature control and preparation methods are key to both safety and flavor, and you can see those standards reflected in how the kitchen operates here. The rice has the right balance of seasoning, not too sweet, not too sharp, which tells me theyβre measuring rather than guessing.
Bubble tea often gets treated like an afterthought in sushi spots, but not here. I tried a brown sugar milk tea made with chewy tapioca pearls that were cooked in small batches. That process alone takes close to an hour when done properly, something many places skip by using pre-made pearls. The result is a smoother texture and better flavor absorption, which explains why so many local reviews mention consistency. One regular I spoke with said they order the same drink weekly and it always tastes identical, which is surprisingly rare.
What stands out most is how the staff explains options without overwhelming you. When I asked about the difference between classic milk tea and fruit-based teas, the cashier broke it down simply, explaining tea bases, sweetness levels, and ice ratios. That kind of clarity reflects real product knowledge, not a memorized script. Research from the National Restaurant Association consistently shows that staff training directly impacts customer satisfaction, and this place is a solid example of that principle in action.
The sushi side offers reliable favorites like California and spicy tuna rolls, but the specialty rolls are where creativity kicks in. One roll I tried combined tempura shrimp, avocado, and a light mango topping. It sounds busy, yet the flavors stayed balanced. That balance is something sushi chefs train for over years, often learning rice ratios and knife skills before touching raw fish. While this isnβt a formal omakase bar, the technique behind the scenes clearly draws from traditional methods.
Location-wise, being right on Fruitville Road makes it an easy stop whether youβre heading toward downtown Sarasota or coming back from the beach. Parking is straightforward, which locals appreciate more than they admit. The dining area stays clean, tables turn over quickly, and takeout orders move fast without feeling rushed.
There are limits, of course. Seating can feel tight during peak hours, and the menu doesnβt dive deep into sashimi-only options. Still, for a casual spot blending sushi and bubble tea, those gaps feel reasonable rather than disappointing. The overall experience lines up with what many online reviews highlight: dependable quality, friendly service, and flavors that donβt cut corners.
If youβre the kind of diner who values both taste and process, this place quietly earns trust. As one handwritten note near the register puts it, Fresh ingredients, made with care, and after multiple visits, that statement feels accurate rather than promotional.

Presumably husband and wife staff mid week. My daughter loved the mango milk tea and said the boba wasnβt too soft or too chewy. Their sushi is outstanding with fresh ingredients used for everything. Awesome little place for a meal.
A family owned sushi place with a quaint atmosphere and friendly folk! Loved the tempura prawns sushi and the vegetable crispy sushi. The onga noodle soup was with a thick noodle and I did not enjoy it (should have googled before ordering)! We tried their bubble tea varieties and they were heavenly!
If youβre looking for the best bubble tea in Sarasota then look no further, Kamβs is definitely the best in town hands down. Their Sushi is also phenomenal. My wife and I love coming here ! Highly recommended !
I had a very pleasant experience at Kam's Bubble Tea & Sushi. I ordered a Banana Coconut Smoothie that was very delicious. Others in my party ordered Bubble Tea items and enjoyed them too. The establishment is clean and has a small dining room available for those wanting to dine in. Items are carefully crafted by staff. The menu has an extensive array of items to choose from. They staff was able to accommodate a dairy-free substitution which was appreciated.
Nice little hidden gem! Everything was FRESH!!! We had the Godzilla roll the shrimp tempura was freshly fried which made a world of difference compared to other restaurants that pre making them and get soggy. The Vegetable soup was Delicious lots of fresh broccoli and spinach and tasty broth! Dint have time to take pics because we devoured it!
everything is made to order and so fresh! such a cute welcoming environment. i got the summer and pacific roll, if you like spicy then the pacific roll is for you. my favorite part is the fresh strawberry milk tea, i wouldnt change a thing about this place and im lucky its so close to home lol
I was delighted to find this friendly, family-run place that combines two of my favorite Asian treats! To top it off, they offer a fantastic lunch special of $10.25 for bubble tea, sushi, and a cup of soup! There are a ton of beverage flavors, and they are now offering rolled ice cream as well. I can imagine this being a nice place for an afternoon snack, if only I lived here!
